The Issues

Public transportation
Susan believes a larger share of state transportation dollars should go toward supporting and expanding public transit systems, especially for the St. Louis metropolitan area. MetroLink and Metro buses benefit our community by cutting down on traffic congestion, reducing pollution from vehicles, and linking the 64th district to all of the St. Louis region. Most importantly, people depend on public transportation to get to work.

Strong neighborhoods
Susan loves this district, and knows that each neighborhood in it is unique. The 64th district is special because there is a range of affordable housing, for young couples starting out or older residents on a fixed income. After she's elected to the state legislature, Susan wants to make sure these neighborhoods stay strong by supporting neighborhood infrastructure, such as sewer maintenance or tax incentives for energy-saving home improvements.

Economic development
Susan believes the state legislature should continue to implement policies and incentives that keep the district economically healthy. This district is lucky to have all kinds of businesses, from the Zoo and museums to top-tier bio-medical research incubators, to restaurants and locally owned stores. These businesses strengthen our economy through the good jobs they provide and tax revenue, which supports our hard-working firefighters, police officers, and public school teachers.

Education
Susan believes a strong public and charter school system is of the utmost importance for our best natural resource: our children. She and her husband sent both of their children to public school, and she knows that a good education provides a foundation for children to become productive members of society. That's why Susan supports investing our time and money into the public and charter schools system to ensure that our schools are as strong as they can be.
